Abstract
360,374. Securing railway &c. rails to sleepers &c. EVANS, E. J., 39, Grosvenor Place, London. July 31, 1930, No. 23133. [Class 104 (ii).] Rails are secured to sleepers or chairs by two clips C having projections C<4> which are inserted through slots in the sleeper and then slid parallel to the rail so that the inclined surfaces C<5> engage the under surface of the sleeper and press the heads C<1> of the clips on to the rail flanges. The clips are secured by a spring member F, the lower arm F<1> of which engages a slot G in the sleeper while the upper parts engage slots in the clips and grip the rail flanges to prevent rail creep. The faces H, H<1> of the clips are of different sizes so that by transposing the clips the rail gauge may be adjusted. When applied to short sleepers connected by a tie, the clips have extensions engaging slots in the tie.
