Abstract

470,027. Securing railway rails. COLVILLES, Ltd., and MACBRIDE, R. W. Feb. 8, 1936, No. 3940. [Class 104 (ii)] Rails are secured to chairs or sleepers 1 by clips 5 engaging the rail flanges and secured by bolts 4 provided with lateral heads 10 engaging the underface of the chair or sleeper. A plug 7, integral with the clip, enters the bolt hole 3 in the chair &c. and secures the bolt against movement. During the tightening of the nut 9 on the bolt, the clip may pivot on the edge 14 of the upstanding ribs 12 through which the bolt holes are formed. In another form it pivots on the top of the chair by means of a downward extension at the back.
