Abstract

366,237. Lubricating revolving- cylinder engines. AMERICAN GAS TURBINE CORPORATION, 52, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Harper, W.; 18, Fair view Avenue, Port Washington, New York, U.S.A.) Jan. 1, 1931, No. 73. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1930. [Class 12 (ii).] In an internal-combustion engine with cylinders 10 revolving about a central valve 62 which rotates, the valve is lubricated by grooves on its exterior. Excess oil in the cylinders is removed by passages 145, 147 ; the ends of these passages are never uncovered together by the piston. The oil that is thrown out of the passages 147 by centrifugal action is caught by the casing formed by cheeks 16, 17 and ring 15, and is used to lubricate the outer gudgeons 21 of the driving gear. A sump 155 is provided.
