Abstract

365,500. Life boats. MECHANS, Ltd. and MOYES, J. Y., Scotstoun Iron Works, Scotstoun, Glasgow. Aug. 19, 1931, No. 23306. [Class 113 (ii).] The buoyancy tanks in metal lifeboats particularly those occupying the lowest position are stiffened tc withstand the pressure due to the head of water on swamping, by corrugating the sides or ends or both. The tanks may also be stiffened by internal bulkheads c, as shown in the Figure, which are held in position by lugs D fixed to the sides, When the internal stiffeners are located at the ends of the tanks they may be attached thereto by clenching members.
