365,054. Cycle mudguard stays, stands, &c. CLARKE, M. L., (Representative of Clark, J.), 181, Bristol Road, Birmingham. Oct. 2, 1930, No. 29442. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii).] Mudguard stays, stands, lifting-handles, or similar fittings or parts of cycles &c. comprise a main sheetmetal unit which, for the whole or the greater part of its length, is of U, channel, or like open section, and which is locally made up to a tubular or closed section by the addition thereto of another member, such as another channel member or a metal, rubber, &c. tube. As shown, a lifting-handle a for a motor cycle is connected by flattened and pierced webs a<1> to mudguard stays a<2> terminating in flattened eyes a<3> for attachment to the wheel spindle or to a frame member, the webs a<1> being riveted &c. to the opposite sides of the mudguard. This combined channel-section fitting is made from sheet metal by pressing and stamping, and the handle part a is made up to a tubular section by the addition of another sheet metal pressing b, which is spot-welded in position. Alternatively, the additional member may consist of a tubular sleeve or sheathing of metal, rubber, &c.
