Abstract
477,135. Fastenings. AUSTER, Ltd., CARTY, S. A., and SMALL, W. W. June 22, 1936, No. 11770/37. Divided out of 477,087. [Class 44] A fastening, particularly for use in conjunction with a stay for a vehicle windscreen as described in Specification 477,087, comprises a pivoted hook or notched lever engaging a pin which is covered with rubber or other elastic or resilient material or fitted with an elastic or resilient member or part, the material or part being compressed by the hook or lever in the act of engagement so that the engagement is tight and the screen is pressed resiliently against its frame. In its simplest form the pin is covered with a sleeve or ring of rubber enclosed within a metal sleeve or ferrule which takes the wear. In a modification, as shown, the metal ring 9 is supported from the pin 5 by a rubber member 12 on the side on which the hook 4 engages it, the rubber being compressed as the end of the hook passes over it and then expanding to press the ring 9 into the hollow of the hook. In a further modification the rubber member 12 is replaced by a compression spring.
