Abstract
363,969. Belt fastenings. GUT, R., 10, Vladislavova, Prague. July 6, 1931, No. 19413. [Class 80 (i).] In belt fastenings, holes 2 are formed near the ends of plates 1 secured to the upper faces of the belt ends 5, a wire helix 3 being engaged with the holes by rotation therein. Advance of the coil is stopped by engagement of its leading end with one of the plates, at which time its tail end has left the last hole 7, which is then closed by a rivet or screw to prevent return of the coil. Alternatively, the tail end of the coil may be bent over. Under belt tension, the parts assume the position shown in Fig. 3, and the relative positions of a belt end 5, its plate 1, and the securing rivets 4 are then substantially the same as when the fastening is passing around a pulley, so that wear is minimized.
