Abstract

Fertilizers comprise slag coated with monocalcium phosphate or monopotassium phosphate. They are made by running molten slag into a solution of the coating salt, such quantities of slag and solution being used that substantially all the water is evaporated.ALSO:A coating is formed on slag or like glassy material by running the molten slag &c. into an aqueous solution of the coating material, such quantities of the slag &c. and solution being used that substantially all the water is evaporated. In examples, slag is coated with calcium chloride to form a road-making material, and with monocalcium phosphate or monopotassium phosphate to form a fertilizer.
