Abstract

Magnesium dust, formed in condensing magnesium vapours obtained by electrothermic distillation, for example by blowing into an electric arc a powdered mixture of ore and carbon, is converted into coherent metal by heating in an atmosphere or current of a reducing or inert gas at reduced pressure, preferably in a high vacuum.
