Abstract

362,210. Screw propellers. LEVASSEUR, P., 7, Place Felix Faure, Paris. Jan. 13, 1931, No. 1146. Convention date, Jan. 23, 1930. [Class 114.] In variable pitch screw propellers wherein the blades are mounted in bearings in the hub there is provided between the bearing surfaces which are subjected to the centrifugal force a plastic and resilient material under compression. The blade root 8 has a number of flanges 10 and is adapted to be positioned in hub sockets 7 having corresponding inner flanges 9, between the sets of flanges being disposed rubber blocks 11 which take the compression forces but which allow of annular adjustment by means of the lever 16 without frictional resistance due to such compression forces. In a modification the blade is screwed into a hollow flange mounted on a projecting arm from the hub, and between a shoulder on the arm and the flange is disposed the rubber or like material. The rubber elements may be complete annular units or divided into sectors 11a.
