[Class 61 (iii).] Pivoted jaw wrenches with chvck-like grip.- A wrench, which may be used on pipes or nuts and bolts, comprises a, number of plates b secured rigidly together to form a handle and pivoted on a pin k within the wrench body c. Each plate b carries at its lower end a cam d, the cams on alternate plates being shaped as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 so as to act on the pivoted jaws f, respectively through levers e and directly, thus causing alternate jaws to rotate in opposite directions as shown by the arrows x to grip the work when the handle is oscillated about its pivot. The jaws are mounted side by side between the thick walls of the body and springs i connect the plates and jaws to hold the latter normally in the inoperative positions. The levers e are pivoted on a pin h and side-plates a may be secured to the handle.
