Abstract

194,145. Frith, W. J. March 14, 1922. Wrenches.-In multiple box-spanners of the kind comprising various-sized spanners telescoping within a larger spanner, registering slots are formed in opposite faces of the spanners and bolts are passed diametrically through the slots and through corresponding holes in the respective spanners. Three spanners B, C, D of graded sizes telescope within a larger spanner A and bolts E provided with spring washers E<1> pass through holes such as B<1>, Fig. 2, in opposite faces of each of the spanners B, C, D and through slots such as A<2>, Fig. 1, or B<2>, Fig. 2, in the other three spanners. A solid piece H fixed in the end of the spanner A is provided with holes H<1> to receive a tommy bar consisting of a removable bolt J. Each end of the spanner A may contain a set of spanners, the tommy bar being situated centrally. In two modifications, the upper parts of the spanners are reduced in width to clear the heads of the bolts E.
