Abstract

Cyclohexylnaphthylamine is prepared by heating together in an autoclave cyclohexylamine and a -or b - naphthol. Impurities may be removed from the product by washing with dilute sodium hydroxide, water, and dilute hydrochloric acid, and finally water, excess moisture being removed by vacuum distillation. The product is an anti-oxidant for rubber. Specification 281,616, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to.ALSO:Rubber is vulcanized in the presence of p cyclohexyl-a -or-b -naphthylamine which acts as an antioxidant. In an example a mixing comprises acetone-extracted rubber, zinc oxide, sulphur, stearic acid, hexamethylenetetramine and the anti-oxidant. Specification 281,616, [Class 70, India-rubber &c.], is referred to. The cyclohexylnaphthylamine is prepared by autoclaving cyclohexylamine with a - or b -naphthol.
