Abstract

361,232. Clocks; striking mechanism. JUNGHANS AKT.-GES., GEB., 134, Gaishaldenstrasse, Schramberg, W³rtemberg, Germany. March 10, 1931, No. 7439. Convention date, July 11, 1930. [Class 139.] In a clock in which a common driving spring, wound electrically at intervals, is provided for both the movement and the striking mechanism, the running down of this spring causes a nut to travel along a screwed spindle, and, by means of an adjusting piece, lock the striking mechanism when the unwinding has reached a predetermined limit. The nut 2 in the form of a spur wheel is geared to a wheel of the movement and as the spring runs down travels up the screwed spindle 1. A collar 3 on the nut engages a groove 4 of an adjusting piece 5 free on a spindle 6. As member 5 rises, its conical surface 7 rocks a lever 8 pivoted at 9, a pin 11 thereon rocking a lever 12 about a pivot 13. At a predetermined position of the nut 2 a plate 14 fixed to the lever 12 moves into the path of a pin 15 to lock the wheel 16 bf the striking train. The striking mechanism is released at rewinding, when the spindle 1 rotates to lower the nut 2, the levers 8, 12 returning to the position shown under for example spring action.
