Abstract
396,627. Recording-apparatus. HASLER AKT.-GES. VORM. TELEGRAPHEN-WERKSTATTE VON G. HASLER, 5, Schwarztorstrasse, Berne, Switzerland. Jan. 19, 1933, No. 1782. Convention date, Feb. 23, 1932. [Class 106 (iv).] In a time-distance recorder for vehicles in which a pencil is reciprocated at regular intervals across a paper strip which is driven in accordance with the movement of the vehicle or by clockwork when the vehicle is stationary, the pencil is reciprocated several times within the unit of one hour and the strip is marked with the hour by a type wheel. Figs. 1 and 2 show a sectional elevation and plan respectively and Figs. 4 and 5, the two side elevations. The strip 27 is led from a vertical drum 30 over guide rollers 32, 33, 34, and a driving roller 35 to a re-winding drum 36. The driving roller 35 is rotated slowly from the hour spindle 7 through a train of gearing which includes bevel gear 48, 47, a one-way clutch 44 and gear wheels 42, 41, 39, 40. If the spindle 7 is rotated backwards when resetting the apparatus, the driving roller 35 is still driven forwards through the bevel gear 49 and a one-way clutch member 51 secured to the vertical spindle to which the gear 42 is fixed. When the vehicle is travelling, the driving roller 35 is rotated at a higher speed by mechanism (not shown) engaging the gear wheel 40. Two spring drums 3, 4 may be wound up simultaneously. The drum 4 drives the gear wheel 6 at one revolution per hour, the speed being regulated by an escapement (not shown) operated by the gear wheel 8. A spring friction drive 9, 10 connects the gear wheel 8 to the hour spindle 7 which carries a gear wheel 11 driving wheels 13, 12 at three times its speed. The wheel 13 carries a button 15 by which the apparatus may be reset, while the wheel 12 moves a pencil 26 up and down three times in one hour by means of a crank 19 and a link 23 the upper end of which.is guided in a fixed groove 22 and also engages a transverse slot at the upper end of a vertical sliding rod 24 carrying the pencil 26. The wheel 12 also carries a worm 16 which drives a horizontal worm wheel 52 secured to a type wheel 53 by means of which the time is stamped on the strip 27 every hour. A backing roller 59 supports the strip against the pressure of the type wheel. The pivot of the wheels 52, 53 is mounted on an arm 57 which is guided horizontally at one end 55 and is moved to the left every hour and sharply returned by linkwork which includes levers 58, 62, and a connection 77 to a cam 6 on the hour spindle 7. A curve of the character shown at 18 in Fig. 3 is thus traced on the strip 27, the close regular zig-zag line indicating the non-running period, when the strip is fed slowly by the clock.
