Abstract
360,439. Alternating-current motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and HEINRICH, A. F., 34, Lancaster Road, Rugby. Aug. 6, 1930, No. 23594. [Class 35.] In motors of the type described in Specification 25358/11, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.], the two brush-rockers are differentially geared together so that in the case of a motor operating wholly above synchronous speed the brush axes are moved forward with decrease of speed, and in the case of motors operating wholly below synchronous speed the axes are moved backward with increase of speed, these being the requirements necessary for power-factor improvement. In the form shown, the brush-rockers R1, R2 are moved in the directions indicated in order to raise the speed and by making the pinion P1 larger than the pinion P2, the pinions P3, P4 being preferably of the same size, the movement of the rocker R1 will exceed that of the rocker R2 thus moving the brush axis backwards. Similarly, when the speed is lowered the brush axis will receive a forward displacement.
