359,572. Paving; slabs. GHEUDE, L., 1, Rue AbbÚ Cuypers, Brussels, LEDOUX, A., 10, Quai de Meuse, Jambes, and DETHIER, E., 2, Rue Florent Dethier, both in Namur, both in Belgium. July 16, 1930, No. 25534/31. Convention date, May 22,1930. Divided on 358,982. [Classes 87 (i) and 107.] A paving-slab of compressed concrete or other mouldable material is provided with a peripheral metallic hoop 4 which is provided with one or more inwardly-directed recesses 7 adapted to coact with corresponding recesses in adjacent slabs for the reception of binding material to form locking keys. The metallic hoop, which is shown prior to bending to shape in Fig. 6, is provided with inwardly directed claws 5 and grooves 6 for locking the hoop to the mouldable material arranged within the hoop. The wearing surface of the slab consists of paving-stones 3 of sandstone, porphyry, wood, asphalt or embedded in a binder of concrete, tar, cement, &c., which is united to a base 1. The jointing material may be of cement, asphalt, &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the provision in a road constructed with slabs as above described of a number of easily removable slabs provided with hoops of inclined and smooth outer surfaces. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
