Abstract

359,515. Water channel conveyers for mines &c. BROWN, J., Bokaro P.O., Bermo, East India Railway, India. June 24, 1930, No. 19157. [Classes 78 (i) and 78 (iv).] A water channel conveyer system for transporting coal &c., particularly suitable for use in mines, comprises inclined troughs, means for supplying water thereto either continuously or intermittently, means for withdrawing water from and returning it to the troughs, a settling tank and a tub filling station. The coal 3 from a loading plate 2 is shovelled into the trough 1. The trough consists of overlapping lengths secured together by clips &e. The trough 1, Fig. 4, extends from the loading station A to the tub-filling station E, a pump ]9 supplying water from a settling tank 14 through a pipe 22 to the loading station. Perforations 6 in the trough allow water to escape therefrom on a steep incline B, C, and pass through a pipe 8 to a lesser incline C, D. The tub-filling trough section 15 is steeply inclined, water being removed therefrom by a pipe 13 and the section having a pipe 16 at its discharge end. An intermittent flush may be provided by a duplex rocking tank 26, Fig. 5, mounted on a pivot 29 and supplied with water from a pipe 33. The tank tips sidewise as the respective compartments 27, 28 are filled. As applied to the working face in a mine having an inclined seam, the troughs 1, Fig. 6, are laid parallel to the coal faces C which are arranged on a slope and two troughs may join together in a gallery 38 through the goaf G leading to the tubs 18. The pipe line 39 extends upwards to a tank 25.
