Abstract

359,248. Vehicle headlamps. MEES, R., 32 bis, Boulevard Haussman, Paris, Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34187. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1929. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv).] An antidazzle screen for the headlamps of motor vehicles comprises transparent or translucent parallel vertical strips 12 fixed to or integral with the front glass 10 and inclined at such an angle that all forwardly directed light is screened. A vertical plane 16 parallel to the axis of the lamp and passing through the front edge 14 of any strip also passes through the rear edge 17 of the adjacent face 18 of the next strip, or penetrates the strip. Each strip 12 when made of glass is bevelled at 19, or the entire face 18 may be bevelled. The strips may be made of celluloid, parchmented paper, light fabric, opal glass or coloured glass and may be arranged on the inner face or on both faces of the front glass, which is mounted in a metal ring 13.
