[Class 38 (iii).] A traction controller is actuated to the first normal running position by coil 1 under the control of driver's switch 6, movement beyond that position being prevented whilst switch 6 is closed, by a parallel-connected coil 12. Movement to the second normal running position is effected by coil 2 under control of switch 7. Reverse movement of the controller is obstructed by a pawl-magnet 21, the circuit of which is completed on the controller in all positions except " oft." To allow the controller to return to its " off " position under spring bias, it is necessary to open pedal-operated contact 10 or 11. The circuit for the reverser 15 is also carried over the contacts 10, 11.
