Abstract

299,308. Siegl, S. Oct. 22, 1927, [Convention date]. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. - Dimction signals and audible signals on motor-vehicles are operated by the same switch levers 3, 3<1>, which are provided with abutments 9, 9<1> adapted to cooperate with a stop 10 on the steering-wheel. The levers 3, 3<1> carry spring contacts 5, 5<1> co-acting with two contacts on a fixed piece 4 so as to light the left or right turn signal when the selected lever is turned by hand. The lever is held in this position by a spring catch, but when the steering-wheel is turned to effect the desired turn the stop 10 engages, say, the stop 9 and moves the lever 3 so that its extension 8 closes a contact and sounds a horn signal. The continued movement of the steering-wheel releases the stop 0 and allows the lever 3 to return to its "left turn" notch, thus interrupting the horn signal. The return movememt of the steering-wheel resets the lever 3. To sound the horn alone, the lever 3 is moved in the opposite direction, bringing an extension 7 against the contact for the horn circuit. Extensions 7<1>, 8<1> on the lever 3<1> correspond to the extensions 7, 8. Specincation 293,770 is referred to.
