Abstract
220,238. Westeson, H. Feb. 8, 1924. Detonator apparatus; track apparatus actuating signals other than on trains.-To give warning when a railway switch is passed by a vehicle on a road for which the switch is not set, a pivoted treadle member 3, normally raised by a spring and adapted to be depressed by the flange of a vehicle wheel, is carried by a block 2 secured to the. switch tongue 1. A detonator is carried by a holder 6 on the adjacent rail 4. With the switch open the treadle 3 is clear of the detonator and is depressed idly. With the switch closed, the treadle is over the detonator, which it explodes if depressed by an improperly passing vehicle. The treadle has a depending flange, not shown, to exclude dirt &c. from between the treadle 3 and block 2. The treadle mav be on the rail 4, and the holder 6 on the tongue 1. In a modification, the treadle may carry the detonator which is exploded by co-operation with a fixed member. In place of a detonator signal, the device may be arranged to close the circuit of an electric bell, or operate a mechanical bell.
