424,948. Retractive switches. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Oct. 27, 1934, No. 30859. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] A switch for controlling a direction indicator of a vehicle is combined with a press button switch for controlling the horn and arranged at the centre of the steering wheel. The operating handle of the direction indicator switch comprises an insulating disc 6 fastened to a plate 9 which is guided in a plate 10 fixed inside a casing 4 arranged in a recess 2 in the hub of the steering wheel 3. The plate 9 has a friction drive on to a wheel 11 of a gear train and is so arranged that when the disc 6 is turned to the left or right corresponding contacts, (not shown), are engaged and the disc 6 is returned by a spring, (not shown); and delayed by the gear train. The use of a disc instead of an operating lever avoids a conspicuous off position and thus avoids confusion when using the switch when the steering wheel is turned. In the middle of the disc 6 is a press button 7 carrrying a contact 15 which when depressed against the action of a spring 16, engages a contact 14, held in a rubber ring 12, to complete the horn circuit.
