Abstract

429,853. Retractive switches. DROWN, A. E., Redcot, The Crescent, Belmont, Surrey. March 14, 1934, Nos. 8072 and 14811. [Class 38 (v)] A switch 1, for controlling direction indicator signals and the horn on a motor vehicle, is mounted on a bracket 3 secured to the steering column and is operated by a lever 6 having an extension 27 which lies adjacent the underside of the steering wheel so as to be operable in all normal positions of the wheel without removing the hands. The lever 6 is pivoted at 7 and carries at its free end bridging contacts 17, 22 engageable with fixed contacts 20, 21, 25, 26 so that on moving the arm 27 to the left or right the corresponding signal is given. Springs 12 return the lever 6 to the central off position. The lever 27 is pivoted at 28 to the lever 6 and on moving the lever up and down causes an extension, (not shown), on the underside of lever 27 to engage a contact, (not shown), on the switch base to operate the horn.
