358,313. Needles for repairing knitted fabrics. MICHELI, M. DE, 11, Vico Gelso, Genoa, Italy. Oct. 24, 1930, No. 32041. [Class 112.] The latch of a hooked latch-needle for repairing " ladders " in knitted fabrics is pushed open by a spring and has a guard to prevent dropping of stitches. The spring 6 is anchored at the back of the needle and protrudes through the slot 3 in which the latch 5 is pivoted. A guard, Fig. 1, comprising two legs 12, and a bulbous end 14 projecting just beyond the hook is provided to prevent the hook from catching up two threads at once to cause dropped or missed stitches. The guard may take the form of a pair of limbs 8, 10 and a bulbous end 9. This form is designed to prevent the latch from engaging two cross threads, so causing a dropped stitch.
