Abstract
360,998. Knitting-machines. HOSIERY DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd., 1, Oxford Street, and MILLS, R. K., 3, Edwards Lane, Sherwood, both in Nottingham. Aug. 20, 1930, No. 24859. [Class 74 (ii).] A machine needle for use in making non-laddering knitted fabric of the kind described in Specification 329,098, [Class 74 (ii), Knitting &c.], is provided with a more or less resilient latch 2 which, when pressed back by a member 4, as shown, traps the new loops. When the needle is only raised sufficiently to clear the old loop the latch is not pressed and then acts on the loops in the ordinary way to form normal or untied stitches. Tied and untied stitches can be made in alternate courses and/or wales. A special removable cam is employed to project the needles sufficiently high to enable tied stitches to be made. The pressers 4 are retained by a spring ring in the needle and are operated by a cam 8, which can be placed in or out of action by pattern means. The improved latch needle can be applied to a Cotton's frame.
