[Class 74 (ii).] Knitted fabrics; circular machines.-A fabric composed of groups of tuck stitches separated by bands of plain stitches, giving a raised honeycomb appearance, is made by providing say every fourth needle with a longer latch and by causing these needles to be cleared at intervals determined by the studs 8a of a pattern chain. These ac; on a pivoted clearing cam 1 through connections 4, 5, 6. To enable a stocking to be knitted with a plain heel &c. the tricks in the heel half of the cylinder which contain long-latch needles also carry independent jacks which, during the formation of the heel, are acted on by a patterncontrolled cam to cause the long-latch needles to clear independently of the cam 1.
