Abstract

391,990. Knitting-machines. HOLT, S., 118, Birchwood Lane, Somercotes, Derbyshire. June 1, 1932, No. 15480. [Class 74 (ii).] The sinkers of Cotton's or other straight-bar machines are provided with throats 2 disposed immediately between the noses 3 to receive and hold the course last knitted. The presser 21 is fixed immediately above the sinkers. Knocking- over is effected solely by sinker movement. Butts 7, 8 on the undersides of the sinkers are operated by catch-bars normally disposed out of range and raised into engagement therewith as required, by cam mechanism. A slur-cock operates the sinker jacks. After each course and before the needles are moved up to the presser, the yarn guides are lifted out of the way. The fabric produced has shorter sinker wales and is more compact than usual.
