Abstract
357,692. Hub caps . DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, GOODYEAR, C. E. and WRIGHT, J., of Dunlop Rubber Co., Foleshill, Coventry. July 24, 1930, No. 22310. Grant of Patent opposed. [Class 144 (i).] A hub-cup is secured to a transverse plate which bridges the open end of the hub-shell and is arranged to provide access to the attachment bolt and nuts. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the plate 2, which may be welded at 3 to the hub-shell 5, is fitted with a central threaded stud 11 to receive a sleevenut 9 for securing the cap 1. A washer 12 on the nut serves to prevent complete detachment from the cap. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the stud 9 fitted with a spring-washer 18 carries cross pins 16 which co-operate with slots 17 in the bridgemember 2 to constitute a bayonet-fastening. In a further modification, the stud 9 is externally threaded to engage a central nut on the member 2.
