Abstract

720,304. Vehicle wheels. JANTES RIGIDA. Jan. 15, 1952 [Nov. 19, 1951], No. 1171/52. Class 144 (1). In a tangent-spoke wheel the spoke heads 3 are each received in a pierced depression 8 in a separate plate or washer 7 which is clamped on a non-tubular rim 1<SP>1</SP> over a corresponding spoke hole 6 by the assembled spoke 4. Such an arrangement obviates the spoke hole depression in the rim itself and allows for drilling the spoke holes 6 normal to the rim surface. The plates or washers 7 may be formed from sheet metal, Fig. 7, or moulded plastic material, Fig. 8, shaped to seat in the rim well.
