Abstract

489,812. Roller-skate wheels; setting tubular fastenings. AUERBACH, R. T. Aug. 4, 1937, No. 21488. [Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii)] [Also in Group VII] A roller-skate wheel comprises a rubber tyre 10 which is forcibly expanded over the rim seat 11 and axially-compressed between the rim-flanges 12, 13. Fig. 4 shows the cross-sectional form of the tyre in its original moulded form, and Fig. 2 the same tvre assembled on the wheel-rim. As shown in Fig. 4, the tyre is internally coned to fit on to a conical post 16, Fig. 5, over which it is forced on to the rim 11 by means of a die 19. The flange 13 is then assembled and forced home by a die 22, Fig. 7, the projecting edge of the rim 11 being finally swaged over by means of a rotary die 23.
