[Class 3 (i).] A sign or a signalling, advertising, or decorating device comprises a plurality of parallel prismatic elements the homologous faces of which are provided with parts of designs &c., a whole composite design being seen from any one viewpoint, but different designs being seen from other points, or alternatively the composite design changing as viewed from any ona position. The prismatic elements may be arranged vertically or horizontally, and may be rotated in unison by manuallyoperated worm gearing. Fig. 12 shows elements 2 automatically or otherwise slidable in a frame 1 which may be extensible. Fig. 18 shows display strips 2 rotatable or adjustable in a longitudinal groove in the frame 1. The elements 2 may have re-entrant angles, as shown in Fig. 16, or may be of glass and be internally illuminated. The designs &c. may be in the form of coloured or other reflectors, or may be constituted by electric discharge lamps 13, Fig. 14. Letters forming designs may be given an increasing height along the sign to compensate for perspective.
