For a triple image according to the invention numerous interesting variants are possible. Depending on the color of the background to which the mural is attached, one of the aforementioned considerations applies. As a further advantage, in a triple image according to the invention the side images can each be displayed in such a way that they appear in an image-conforming proportion from the main viewing plane. Since the observer does not look at the side images perpendicular to their surface but at an acute angle to the surface, the side images only appear in their original size from the main viewing plane, but they are compressed on the side. This distortion can be compensated by applying the image to the image carrier with a corresponding distortion in the other direction. The distortion factor is the quotient of the width of the image strip in relation to the half distance between the trailing edge of a pair of image strips and the leading edge of the adjacent image strip pair.

The same effect of proportional representation arises even when the page image is applied in its height pressed onto the image carrier. The desired absolute size of the image determines whether the height must be pressed or the width must be torn apart.

It is also possible to apply a triple image according to the invention on a curved surface. For an undistorted visualization of the background image, this must be applied according to the curvature of the image carrier with a corresponding compensation distortion. Then the background image appears undistorted and in proportions appropriate to the image from a certain perspective. Similarly, the page images can be optimized to a certain level of consideration. For this purpose, the width of the image strips must be varied so that their leading edges are aligned. The distance of each image strip to its neighbor is proportional to its width with a factor that is the same for the entire image. Further possible applications of a triple image according to the invention result from the choice of the direction of the image strips. A satisfactory, optical change from the one main viewing plane to the next main viewing plane is always possible if the direction of movement of the image-viewing person is oriented perpendicular to the direction of the image strips.

Therefore, for triple images on corridor walls, in waiting halls or in recreation rooms for people and in squares, the image strips should always be selected parallel to the optical vertical of the background image. However, if the triple image is to be placed in the viewing area of a glass elevator or under the ceiling of a corridor, the image strip should be aligned transversely to the optical vertical of the three images. Another extension of a triple image according to the invention is to make the three main viewing planes visible in the space in front of the triple image. From these levels, as is well known, the left side image, the background image and the right side image alone - and with appropriate predistortion - also visible in image-appropriate proportions.
