Abstract

357,475. Vibration dampers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Morrill, W. J. ; 2317, South Wayne Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A.) Feb. 24,1931, No. 5801. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1930. [Class 108 (iii).] To minimize vibration of the stationary member in a machine having a pulsating torque, an annular weight is arranged in. side this member around the axis of rotation and is resiliently connected to the stationary member. The weight and springs may have a natural period of vibration corresponding in frequency with the vibration of the stationary member caused by the pulsating torque. In the form shown, the weight 17 is attached to the end bracket 12 of a singlephase electric motor by three radially-arranged flat springs 18 secured in radial slots 20, 19 in the weight and end-bracket respectively so that the springs are resilient to circumferential vibrations but rigidly resist movement of the weight in any other direction.
