Abstract
540,199. Metallic springs. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 1, 1940, No. 12468. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1939. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] In order to prevent vibration through the distortion of the stator of a dynamo electric machine by the field of the rotor the stator is attached to the casing by beam springs, which are practically rigid longitudinally, but flexible radially and tangentially, the radial flexibility being greater than the tangential. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement with three such sets of springs 24 secured at their ends to rings 23 on the frame by bolts 25 and at their middles by bolts 26 to bars 14 which are secured to stator. In a modification the springs are arranged only at the middle of the bars, which are directly attached at their ends to the rings 23. If the rotor is of the two-pole type the frame is so constructed that its period when vibrating with four circumferential sides is substantially different from, preferably substantially less than, half the period of rotation of the rotor.
