Abstract

An electrical resistance material comprises a mixture of boron nitride with one or more conductors of the first order, such as powdered metals, carbon or graphite, to which may be added badly conducting oxides, silicates, or carbides. A resistance is formed by mixing the materials together with a binder, such as coal tar or pitch, into a plastic mass which after moulding into shape is brought to a temperature of 300 DEG C. and is then strongly heated in an oven from which air is excluded. The resistance is preferably embedded in graphite or powdered carbon during the heating process.
