[Class 81 (ii).] An air douche is provided with two nozzles d, e which may be used alternatively for drying the hands and the face respectively, the nozzle e being arranged to give a less intense air current than the nozzle d. As shown in Fig. 1 air is supplied by a blower to a pipe b carrying a valve casing c on which the nozzles d, e are mounted at right-angles. The valve g comprises a plate carried by an arm h on a spindle i turned by a crank handle j. A spring k, attached to the arm h and to the casing, normally maintains the valve in the position closing the nozzle e; on turning the spindle i the nozzle d is closed and the nozzle e opened, the deflection of the air current in the casing c being stated to reduce its intensity. The nozzle e is closed by a perforated plate or grid f. The whole apparatus may, if desired, be inverted. In the construction shown in Fig. 2 the plate covers a portion of the pipe b partitioned off by a baffle m, and a plate valve g is adapted alternatively to close this portion or the main pipe. In further modifications a butterfly valve is provided in the nozzle d, the casing c being dispensed with. The emission of air through the nozzle e, when the valve is open, is small, but may be reduced by providing an inclined baffle partly across the nozzle, by inwardly inclining the portion of the pipe immediately beneath the nozzle, by providing an inner nozzle at this point, or by providing substantially horizontal parallel baffles across the nozzle itself.
