Abstract

356,225. Automatic guns. AUTOMATIC GUNS, Inc., 924, 17th Street, Washington, U.S.A. Feb. 28, 1930, No. 14819/31. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1929. Divided on 356,230. [Class 92 (ii).] Relates to automatic guns of the type in which the firing-pin 17, Fig. 3, is released by the locking movement of a block 29 sliding in the breech-bolt 13 and serving to lock the bolt in closed position. According to the invention, the firing- pin is cocked during the closing movement of the breech-bolt by engagement with a spring-controlled sear 33 carried by the fixed gun casing the sear being automatically released by a projection 31 on the locking-block 29. The invention is shown in Fig. 3 applied to the automatic gas-operated gun described in Specification 356,230 which includes a rod R for operating the breech-bolt which is retained by a hand-sear 81 released by a trigger 85. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the automatic sear is carried by a lever 107 pivoted to the gun casing and controlled when necessary by a slide 118 connected through a bell crank 123 and link 127 with the trigger-operated sear 81. In case of missfire, the firing-pin can be cocked and released by a finger-operated sliding lever 129, Fig. 12, without opening the breech.
