Abstract
356,078. Rotary compressors. FERGUSON, G., 1, Ijzeren Manweg, Vught, Holland. Jan. 9, 1931, No. 809. Convention date, Jan. 10, 1930. [Class 110 (ii).] A rotor 1 on a shaft 2 contains a chamber 14 through which is circulated oil from a cooler 12. Helical slots 15 are machined in the rotor to impel the cooled oil from a chamber 11, through the space 14 and further blades 15 to an end chamber 10, whence the oil is returned to the cooler 12 by way of a pipe 24. The oil circulates through a casing jacket 26 from an inlet pipe 25 to a return pipe 28, being circulated by temperature difference of the columns of oil contained in the pipes. A rib 27 guides the oil downwards. Cooling water circulates through a pipe 13. A hole 30 is provided in the U-pipe 17 to prevent air lock. Keys 16 secure the rotor 1 to the shaft. The oil used is preferably lubricating oil.
