[Class 146 (iii).] The rib-covering cap or the socket of a desk support for a fountain pen of the type having a fixed nut and a screw thread for securing the cap in place spaced from the end of the nib-holder is so constructed that the distance X<1> between any point on the edge of the central bore and the diametrically opposite point on the internal shoulder E which abuts against the end of the nib-holder is equal to or greater than the distance X between the end of the nib and the diametrically-opposite point on the front edge of the screw thread G, in order to prevent the nib from engaging with the shoulder when being inserted into the cap or socket.
