Abstract

354,006. Adjustment devices for angle-measuring instruments. TALLACK, H. T., 286, High Holborn, London. June 18, 1930, No. 18586. [Class 97 (ii).] A tangent screw for use with theodolites and other precision instruments is combined with a differential m i c r o - meter screw. As shown in the Figure, A is a circular box provided with a screw-thread B for attachment to the clamp arm or other part of the instrument. Sliding through a square or other non- circular aperture J in the end of the box A is a socket F, threaded internally, and also, on the wider portion, externally. Through F is screwed the usual tangent screw I. The micrometer head D, having threaded thereon a graduated sleeve E co-operating with an index line on the outside of the box A, is threaded internally to engage the external thread on the socket F and also externally on the turned-down portion to engage the internal thread C on the box A.
