Abstract
354,518. Feeding-apparatus for carding-engines. FRASER, R., Cairniehill, Arbroath, Angus, Scotland. July 8, 1930, No. 20616. [Class 120 (i).] In carding machinery, particularly for jute, hemp and flax fibres, the sliver 1 from a breaker card 2, Fig. 1, is fed by rollers 3, 4 to an inclined conveyer 5 the upper end of which is free to rise and fall and is universally jointed at 6 to a funnel 7 pivotally connected at 8 to a carriage 9 which is reciprocated horizontally to distribute the sliver transversely over the apron 10 whereby it is fed to the finisher card 11. The carriage 9 is reciprocated on rails 17 by an endless chain 12 through a straight-line mechanism comprising link members 14, 15, 16, Fig. 3, the central link 14 being pivoted on a stud 13 carried by the chain 12 and the links 15, 16 connected to studs 15<1>, 16<1> on the carriage 9.
