Abstract
354,374. Straight-bar knitting-machines. JONES, T. H., Breck Hill Road, Woodthorpe, Nottinghamshire, and MILLS, R. K., 3, Edwards Lane, Sherwood, Nottingham. May 9, 1930, No. 14256. [Class 74 (ii).] A machine of tl e Cotton type is provided with needles 1 having double or multiple latches whereby the non- laddering fabric described in Specification 329,098, [Class 74 (ii), Knitting &c.], can be made. The hooks may be made springy to facilitate transfer of loops. Locked or tied stitches are madeat predetermined intervals, the needles being raised for this purpose to a greater extent than for making plain stitches, by a cam 4, so that the yarn can be fed between the latches. The needle bar 2 is reciprocated by a lever device 6 carrying a roller 7 which can be shifted, as required, from the ordinary cam 3 to the cam 4. The roller 7 is controlled by a shaft 19 which can be shifted by edge cams on a shaft driven by the shaft 5. Alternatively the cams 3, 4 may be displaced on the shaft 5 or the latter may move endwise, or clutches may be employed. The sinkers are caused to sink more varn in the formation of a course of locked stitches by pushing in the slur-cocks 21, the rear ends of which are screwed and carry wheels 26. Stops on brackets 24 come into contact with the wheels 26 at the ends of the traverses thus pushing the slur-cocks in or out.
