Abstract

352,799. Paper-folding machines. CAMCO (MACHINERY), Ltd., 63, Farring- don Street, London. Sept. 4, 1930, No. 26431. Convention date, Jan. 7. [Class 100 (ii).] In a paper-folding machine employing buckling plates and co-operating rollers 12..15, each buckling plate can be mechanically operated so as to move it towards or away from its rollers, along a rectangular path for the purpose of removing or inserting a deflector member. In the arrangement shown, the plate 18 has side flanges slidable on guide rails 24 fixed to the main frame 10 and is reduced in width at its inner end to carry pivoted arms 26 supporting a deflector plate 27. The outer end of the plate 18 carries brackets 35 to which is fixed the end of a flexible metal strip 33 which is wound on a roller 32 on a shaft 28 operated by a hand-wheel 31 so that the plate 18 can be raised by the hand-wheel or allowed to drop under gravity to its lowest position. An arm 30 fixed to the shaft 28 carries a spring-pressed pin 41 adapted to snap into one of two sockets 42, 43 according as the fold plate is to be operative or the deflector is to be placed in position. The engagement of the arm 30 with a screw 44 limits the downward movement of the plate. Specifications 281,492 and 234,079, [both in Class 100 (ii), Printing processes &c.], are referred to.
