Abstract

352,492. Vapour engines. KOENEMANN, E., 1, Paulsbornerstrasse, Halensee, near Berlin. April 2, 1930, No. 10505. [Class 122 (iii).] Vapour for driving a turbine 18 or other engine is evolved under pressure by the chemical decomposition of a liquid due to heating, and after use is recombined with the residual liquid, the cycle being a continuous one. Vapour evolved from the liquid by heat in a vessel 1 passes to the turbine 18 from which it is exhausted through a pipe 4 ending in a nozzle 5 in a regenerator vessel 6, to which is connected a coil 7 disposed in a water tank 8. the heat of recombination serving to generate steam which is used in a turbine 19. The liquid is circulated by a pump 11 continuously through the coil 7, a heat exchanger 13 and the vapour generator 1. Suitable primary liquids are solutions of the double ammonia metal salts such as zinc diamino chloride, from which ammonia is evolved, solutions of halogen salts combined with gases such as SO2, CO and CO2, and ammonia salts of phosphoric acid.
