Abstract

419,805. Generating combustion products under pressure. HYDRO NITRO SOC. ANON., 8, Quai du Cheval Blanc, Geneva, Switzerland.-(Assignees of Breslauer, J. ; 78, Rue Montchoisy, Geneva, Switzerland.) Feb. 16, 1933, No. 4813. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 12, 1933]. [Class 51 (i).] A power fluid at high temperature and pressure, for use in heat engines, is obtained by introducing chemicals such as ammonium nitrate and nitrite, with or without oxidizable substances such as urea or urea nitrate, into a heated decomposition chamber at high pressure. The chemicals may be introduced into the decomposition chamber in solution or in a molten condition. In the apparatus shown, a pump 1 forces a solution of ammonium nitrate &c. through a coiled tube 2, heated by exhaust gases, and through a coiled tube 3 in a chamber 4, from which the gases evolved pass to an engine 6. Electric heating resistances are embedded in the lining 8 of the chamber 4, and water or other liquid may be injected by a pump 5 in order to lower the decomposition or combustion temperature.
