Abstract

In the absorption of nitrous gases in water in sprinkling towers connected in series, the towers which are last reached by the gas are maintained by suitable cooling means at a lower temperature than the preceding towers. The cooling means used may be liquids drawn from different sources, e.g. river water and artificially-cooled brine, and having different temperatures, the coldest liquid being used for cooling the towers last reached by the gases. Specifications 121,635 and 267,721, [both in Class 1 (ii)], are referred to.
