Abstract

<PICT:0790288/III/1> In the process of the parent Specification, the solution leaving the regenerator column 14 is divided into two parts, the major part, i.e. about two-thirds of the whole, flowing through a pipe line 5 to an intermediate height in the absorption tower 2, whilst the remaining one third is pumped through a cooler 27 to the top of the tower 2. The cooling is to a temperature 30 DEG F. to 100 DEG F. lower than the temperature of the main stream leaving the regenerator, temperatures below the precipitation point of the dissolved salts being, however, avoided.
