Abstract
351,349. Furnace walls. BIGELOW, F. B., 5057, Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Sept. 26, 1930, No. 28902. Convention date, Oct. 7, 1929. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii).] In a wall in which lining blocks are hung on a supporting metal frame, the actual lining blocks 26 of expensive refractory material are independently hung on hanger blocks 16 each independently hung on the metal frame, the hanger blocks having ar upward-hook top sur. face 23 and the lining blocks a corresponding downward-hook surface. The lining is completed by filler blocks 34 having stepped upper surfaces to conform to the different levels of the lining and hanger blocks above. The hanger blocks are supported on shallow shelves 15 and gripped at the top by wider downwardly turned flanges 14 above. All the blocks are arranged so as to break joint. In a modification the lining blocks are recessed at the rear to afford space for water &c. pipes. Specification 310,305, [Class 51 (i), Furnaces and kilns, Combustion apparatus of], is referred to.
