Abstract

350,687. Supplying powdered fuel. ROWLEY, C. D. and NESFIELD, A. C., 15, St. James's Place, London. May 16, 1930, No. 15089. [Class 51 (i).] Consists of a device for feeding powdered fuel by air or other gas designed to allow ready variation of both the strength and the quality of the mixture. The fuel, supplied to a pan or recess B<1>, enters a gap between the narrow ends of oppositely tapered bores D, E in the air-supply pipe, the size of the gap being adjustable to vary the strength of the mixture by longitudinal adjustment of one of the bores E. The two bores are mounted in a pipe A of uniform section, the bore E being adjustable therein by means of a screw-thread El. Rotation is effected by means of projections E<2> gear teeth, or otherwise. A valve in the pipe line controls the quantity of mixture passed and may be associated with a control for the supply of fuel to the pan B<1> and with a thermostat.
